Nordlys IPL

Sabeen Munib, MD

Target Pigment. Calm Redness. Restore Clarity—Safely.

The Nordlys IPL system by Candela uses advanced Selective Waveband Technology (SWT) to treat sun damage, redness, freckles, and vascular concerns with unprecedented precision. Unlike traditional IPL systems, Nordlys delivers targeted, narrow-spectrum light that’s safer for skin types prone to post-inflammatory pigmentation and uneven tone. At Spectrum Skin Clinic, we use Nordlys IPL to restore clarity, correct pigment, and reduce redness—especially for sun-damaged or sensitive skin.

Why Choose Nordlys IPL at Spectrum Skin Clinic?

  • Fades brown spots, freckles, and photoaging
  • Reduces redness, rosacea, and broken capillaries
  • Treats skin with more precision and less heat than standard IPL
  • Minimal downtime with progressive improvement
  • Safe for Fitzpatrick skin types I–III (select protocols for IV)

What Makes Nordlys Different?

Nordlys uses Selective Waveband Technology (SWT), which filters light into precise wavelengths tailored for melanin or hemoglobin. This minimizes unnecessary energy exposure to surrounding tissue, making it gentler and safer than traditional broad-spectrum IPL.

The system can treat a range of conditions with substantially lower fluence, which means fewer side effects and more consistent outcomes—especially in sensitive or redness-prone skin.

Who Is It For?

This treatment is ideal for adults aged 25–70+ who are experiencing early sun damage, persistent redness, or unwanted pigmentation. It’s safe and effective for light to medium skin tones and is often used to maintain results from other resurfacing or anti-aging procedures.

What to Expect During the Procedure

After cleansing and prepping the skin, a cooling gel is applied. The Nordlys handpiece is gently passed over the treatment area as bright pulses of light are delivered. You may feel a brief “snap” sensation with each pulse, similar to a rubber band, but discomfort is minimal.

Treatment time: 20–40 minutes, depending on area.
