Lip filler is a gel-based injectable treatment—typically made from hyaluronic acid (HA)—used to enhance the shape, volume, and structure of the lips. HA is naturally found in the skin and adds moisture and plumpness. When injected properly, it offers soft, natural-looking definition without stiffness or distortion.

Lip filler can address:

• Volume loss from aging or weight loss
• Asymmetry (e.g., uneven upper/lower lips or side imbalance)
• Lack of definition in the vermillion border or Cupid’s bow

What Is the Procedure Like?

Most appointments take about 30 minutes.

• Topical numbing is applied for comfort
• Injections are performed using a needle or cannula depending on the area and skin condition
• Minor swelling and tenderness are expected
• We advise avoiding alcohol, exercise, or makeup on the lips for 24 hours

• Swelling is common for 24–72 hours
• Bruising may occur, especially in patients prone to it
• Results settle by day 5–7
• Full integration by 2 weeks

We do not recommend travel or high-impact activity for the first 48 hours after lip filler. Icing can help reduce swelling but should be applied gently.

How Long Do Lip Fillers Last?

Results typically last 6–12 months, depending on:

• The product used
• Your metabolism
• Frequency of muscle movement (e.g., frequent talking or puckering)
  

Maintenance is usually recommended once or twice per year. Patients with prior filler may need less product to maintain results.

What If I’ve Had Filler Before?

If you’ve had filler that migrated, feels firm, or distorted your natural shape, we recommend evaluation before adding more. We offer ultrasound-guided lip filler dissolve using HiLunix (Hyaluronidase). This allows targeted removal before reinjection—safer, more precise, and tailored to avoid overcorrection.
