Facial Balancing Before & After | Midface Support and Softer Folds

Shadows had gathered around her mouth: deeper folds from the nose to the mouth corners and lines below them that made her look tired at rest.

On assessment, the nasolabial folds and the lines at the corners of the mouth were visible at rest on both sides, and the midface had flattened compared with the lower face. The jawline was holding. The pattern reflected midface volume loss letting the lower face fall into shadow, rather than skin laxity. A balancing approach suited this presentation because filling the folds directly would treat the shadow without its cause.

Filler was placed to restore support in the midface first, then in small amounts along the lower face where shadows remained. Facial Balancing treats the face as one structure rather than a list of lines.

In the after image, the folds are softer, the area around the mouth reads more relaxed and the midface has regained shape, while she still looks like herself. Support from above is what lets the lower face look rested.
