Sun exposure had left the neck and upper chest browner and blotchier than the face.
On assessment, the neck and upper chest showed diffuse brown discoloration with scattered darker spots, and the tone stopped short of matching the jawline and face. The skin texture was otherwise stable. The pattern was consistent with cumulative sun damage on skin that is often protected less carefully than the face. A pigment-selective laser suited this presentation because the concern was color, not texture.
Dr. Sabeen Munib, MD treated the neck and chest with a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser, which targets brown pigment while sparing the surrounding skin. Improvements build gradually over several months.
