Details of the Treatment:

Across the upper back and shoulder, the skin showed scattered and confluent hyperpigmentation against an otherwise even body tone.

Before treatment, the pigment read as a mix of broader sun-related darkening over the shoulder and more discrete marks across the upper back. Body pigment behaves differently from facial pigment — skin turnover is slower below the neck, so clearing is more gradual, and the depth of the pigment (epidermal versus dermal) shapes how completely it responds. In Fitzpatrick III–IV skin the approach stays conservative to avoid provoking rebound pigmentation.

Candela PicoWay is one option within a broader pigment-treatment framework. In selected patients its picosecond-class pulse duration may reduce thermal diffusion compared with some heat-based modalities, which matters on the back where post-treatment pigment rebound is a risk. In the after image the shoulder and upper back read lighter and more even, though some residual pigment remains — body pigmentation typically clears over several months and more than one session, and sun protection between sessions influences the durability of the result as much as the laser does.

Individual results vary. The outcome shown reflects this patient's specific anatomy, health history, and treatment plan. Results shown are not guaranteed and are not necessarily typical. Photos used with patient consent.

More Even Skin Tone

More Even Skin Tone

Scattered and confluent pigment across the shoulder and upper back reads more uniform after treatment.

Lighter Pigmentation

Lighter Pigmentation

Sun-related darkening and discrete marks are reduced, though body pigment lightens gradually over a treatment series rather than all at once.

Realistic, Gradual Clearing

Realistic, Gradual Clearing

Skin below the neck turns over slowly, so results build over months with consistent sun protection between sessions.
