She wanted regrowth in a focal area of thinning on the lateral scalp — without surgery. Caliber and coverage had both dropped visibly.

Scalp assessment showed a defined area of reduced density on the lateral/temporal scalp with hair caliber notably finer than the surrounding terminal hair. The follicular units remained present and viable, with no evidence of scarring or cicatricial change. The hair character on either side of the affected zone was intact, indicating a favorable environment for growth factor-mediated follicular rescue.

Dr. Sabeen Munib administered PRFM via scalp injection across the affected zone, delivering platelet-rich fibrin matrix — concentrated with PDGF, TGF-beta, VEGF, and EGF — directly to the follicular units within a fibrin scaffold. In the after image, the previously affected area shows visibly improved density and new finer terminal hairs filling in. The fibrin matrix distinguishes PRFM from standard PRP — sustained growth factor delivery at the follicle produces a more complete biological response than a single-peak release.
