On assessment around the eyes, the outer corners showed fine lines fanning out, the upper eyelid skin was crepey, and the under-eye area showed mild surface unevenness. The muscle activity around the eyes was normal. The pattern was age-related thinning in a thin-skinned area. CO2 resurfacing around the eyes suited this presentation because both the fine lines and the crepey texture come from the same underlying skin change.

CO2 laser resurfacing was performed in the area around the eyes, with corneal protection in place. The treatment in this area calls for precise control because eyelid skin is much thinner than cheek skin and what works on cheeks is too strong here. Improvements continue gradually over several months as the skin renews. In the after image, the lines at the outer corners of the eyes have softened, the upper eyelid crepey texture has improved, and the surface around the eyes reflects light more evenly. Treating thin-skinned areas at the right intensity matters. The right intensity for the right area is the framework, not maximum intensity by default.
