Lip Augmentation – Natural Volume Enhancement

The hesitation had been about the gap between 'augmentation' as a clinical term and the augmented appearance that was the source of her concern. A year of reading about technique and providers came before the consultation.

On assessment, both lips were naturally thin with reduced upper and lower lip body volume and a soft lip border. The lip-to-face proportions were within range. The cupid's bow was preserved but flat. The pattern was natural lip thinness. A conservative approach suited this presentation because the goal was a result that looked like the patient's own lips at full natural volume rather than a different, augmented lip.

A soft filler was placed by cannula in two passes — lip border first, then matching body volume on both lips. Total product was conservative for the patient's anatomy. The result target was the natural full-volume version of the patient's existing lip shape, not a larger augmented version. In the after image, the lip border is defined, the body volume has modestly increased, and the cupid's bow is more visible. The lips look like a fuller version of the patient's own anatomy. Augmentation that does not look augmented is the standard. The lip the patient was born with, expressed at its full natural potential, is the target.
