Lip Filler – Hydration, Texture Restoration & Natural Lip Rejuvenation

She wasn't considering filler — she was considering what to do about her lips looking older than the rest of her face. Fine vertical lines, softened border, lip dryness that lipstick made worse, reduced projection on smile.

On assessment, the lips showed reduced body volume, with fine vertical lines extending from the lip border up into the skin above and a dry surface. The lip border was soft, with the cupid's bow definition reduced — the typical age-related changes. The lower lip showed the same loss of body volume. The pattern reflected the kind of combined surface and structural change that comes with this decade. A hydration-focused approach suited this presentation because the surface concerns were the dominant complaint.

A hydrating filler was placed in tiny droplets along both lips and at the lip border using cannula technique. The surface placement was the priority; structural border placement was secondary. Hydration-focused work delivers a different result than volume-focused work — the lips look more rested than fuller. In the after image, the vertical lines around the mouth have softened, the lip surface reflects light evenly, and the lip border is once again a defined line. Lip filler is not lip transformation. In a mature patient, the right amount in the right place is closer to skincare than to enhancement.
