Lip Filler Refinement | Dissolve and Border Restoration

Refinement, not enhancement — that was the request. Previous filler had drifted subtly above the lip border, the texture had grown uneven, and the border had lost definition. More volume wasn't the answer.

On assessment, subtle drift above the upper lip border was visible on close inspection, with uneven surface texture in the upper lip suggesting previous filler that had not integrated cleanly. The lip border was diffuse rather than defined. There was no overall volume excess — the filler was simply in the wrong distribution. A combined dissolve-and-refine approach suited this presentation because the lip needed to be reset locally before the surface could be finished.

Hyaluronidase was placed in low-volume amounts at the small drifted zones above the lip border. A hydrating filler was then placed shallowly in the upper lip body to even the surface texture. Combined dissolve-and-refine is a more nuanced approach than either treatment alone — the lip is reset locally, then the surface is finished. In the after image, the lip border reads as a clean line, the upper lip surface is smooth, and the lip volume is unchanged from baseline. Refinement is what this case needed: removing what was wrong before adding what was right.
