Lip Filler Side Profile Before & After

From the front the lips looked age-appropriate to her. From the side they read flat and undefined — the line between her lip and her face had softened in profile photographs.

On side-profile assessment, both lips showed reduced projection with the lips sitting close to the surrounding face. The lip border on profile was soft. The structural support around the mouth that holds the lip forward had softened. The front-view lip volume was at the lower end of normal. The pattern reflected mid-life changes in both lip volume and the structural support around the mouth. A profile-focused approach suited this presentation because the patient's actual concern was specific to how the lips read from the side.

A soft filler was placed by cannula with side-view-focused placement. The lip border was addressed first to define the profile edge. Body volume was placed in the front portion of both lips rather than spread out evenly. Profile improvement asks for placing volume where it matters in side view — at the front, not the sides. In the after image, the lip projection in profile has visibly increased, the upper-lower ratio reads proportionate from the side, and the lip border has a defined edge. The front view is largely unchanged. Side-profile lip filler is a different placement strategy from front-view enhancement, even at the same total amount.
