Lip Filler – Perioral Rejuvenation for Vertical Lines & Volume

Her lips themselves weren't the issue — the vertical lines around them were. Lipstick bled, and photos showed lines she didn't see in the mirror.

On assessment, vertical lines extended up from the upper lip border on both sides — deepest near the center and softer toward the corners of the mouth. The lip body itself showed mild age-related volume reduction but was within acceptable range for the patient. The lip border was soft but visible. The pattern was natural age-related change in the skin around the mouth combined with chronic activity from speech and expression. A placement approach above the lip border, with minimal placement in the lip itself, suited this presentation.

A soft product was placed in tiny shallow amounts above the upper lip border, where the vertical lines were deepest. Cannula technique was used to avoid bruising in this area, which has more small vessels than the lip body. Placement above the lip border is more technique-sensitive than placement in the lip itself — over-injection here creates an unnatural fullness that is hard to correct. In the after image, the vertical lines have softened, the upper lip border has been restored, and the area around the mouth reads smoother on movement. The patient's complaint determines the placement, not the standard menu.
