Lip Flip Before and After | Subtle Upper Lip Enhancement

At rest, her upper lip read within normal range. On smile it rolled inward to a narrow band — what she called a 'swallowed' lip in photographs. She had reviewed filler outcomes and decided against added volume.

On assessment, the upper-lip volume itself was not the issue. The muscle around the lips was pulling the lip edge inward on smile, producing the dynamic concealment. The lower lip was unremarkable. The pattern pointed to the upper-edge of the lip muscle as the right target. A small muscle-relaxing placement above the lip border was indicated; filler was not, because the resting volume was adequate.

A small amount of Botox was placed at four shallow points above the upper lip border — two at the center, two on the sides. Placement was matched to relax the upper edge of the muscle without affecting speech or oral function. Lip flips last a shorter duration than filler — a feature for patients testing the look before committing. In the after image, the upper lip rolls outward on smile rather than inward, with more lip visible and no change to resting lip volume. When the complaint is dynamic, the answer is functional, not volume-based.
