Details of the Treatment
A short, rounded chin can make the lower face look wide and round, with the chin blending into the jaw. This patient had chin filler to add length and shape. The photos show her face from the front, before treatment and after.
Before: the chin is short and rounded, and the lower face reads round from the front.
After: the chin is longer and comes to a clearer point, and the lower face reads longer and more oval. The two photos are lit the same way, so the change in shape is a fair comparison.
About chin filler: Dermal fillers are FDA-approved for chin augmentation in adults over the age of 21. Some fillers are absorbed by the body over time, so the treatment may need to be repeated to keep the result. How long it lasts depends on the filler and the area treated.
Recovery and risks: Swelling and bruising are the most common effects, and many settle within a few days to weeks. Less common risks include infection and allergic reaction. The most serious risk is filler entering a blood vessel.
Is chin filler right for you: It depends on the length and shape of your chin, how it balances with your nose and lips, and how much change you want. Sabeen Munib, MD performs every chin filler treatment herself and assesses this at a consultation before any filler is placed.
Individual results vary. The outcome shown reflects this patient's specific anatomy, health history, and treatment plan. Results shown are not guaranteed and are not necessarily typical. Photos used with patient consent.
