Lip Filler Partial Dissolve Before & After | Correcting Overfilled Lips

Something had felt off in photos for a while; a recent picture made it obvious. Years of periodic lip filler had taken her past the look she'd been trying to avoid — too much forward projection, blurred border.

On assessment, the lips read overfilled at rest, with the upper lip projecting beyond its natural line and the wet-dry junction blurred from layered filler. The lip border had lost definition along its length. The lips read as a single softened mass rather than two distinct parts — the late stage of repeated injection without anything cleared in between. A staged dissolve approach suited this presentation because the lips needed to come back gradually rather than all at once.

Hyaluronidase was placed by cannula in low-volume amounts through the lip body, with the focus weighted to the most overfilled zones. Dissolve work is a longer process than people expect — the lips return gradually, not overnight, and that is by design. In the after image, the lip projection has reduced, the lip border is once again a defined line, and the upper and lower lip ratio has returned to its natural proportion. Correction first, refinement second is the order. Anything else builds on a foundation that does not match the patient's anatomy.
