Microneedling and TCA CROSS Before and After | Acne Scar Refinement

Mixed acne scarring across the cheeks — shallow rolling depressions plus deeper individual ice-pick scars. Two scar types meant two different tools applied in the same visit.

On assessment, both cheeks showed shallow rolling depressions across most of the surface, with deeper individual scars in clustered zones. The tone was relatively even. The pattern reflected the aftermath of cystic acne that had since resolved. A combined-tool approach suited this presentation because the rolling scars and the ice-pick scars come from different shapes of damage and respond to different tools.

Microneedling was performed across the affected zones for the rolling component. TCA Cross was placed precisely into each deeper individual scar with a fine applicator. In the after image, the rolling depressions read softer, the deeper scars read shallower, and the cheek surface reads more uniform. Different scar types respond to different tools. The approach that respects the difference produces a more complete result.
