These photos show one patient's lip filler result from both angles: the right side and the left side, each before and after. Seeing both sides shows whether the volume sits evenly across the mouth.

Before: both lips are thin, the upper lip border is soft and flat, and the lower lip has little projection from either angle.

After: both lips look fuller, the upper lip border is more defined, and the lower lip projects further. The change looks similar from the right and the left. The after photos were taken soon after treatment (small injection marks are visible), so some of the fullness may be early swelling that settles.

About lip filler: Dermal fillers are FDA-approved for lip augmentation in adults over the age of 21. Some fillers are absorbed by the body over time, so the treatment may need to be repeated to keep the result. How long it lasts depends on the filler and the area treated.

Recovery and risks: Swelling and bruising are the most common effects, and many settle within a few days to weeks. Less common risks include infection and allergic reaction. The most serious risk is filler entering a blood vessel.
