Details of the Treatment
These photos show one patient's lip filler result from the front and from the side, each before and after.
Before: the upper lip is thin with a flat border, the lower lip has little fullness, and fine vertical lines run across both lips.
After: both lips look fuller, the upper lip border is more defined, and the lip surface looks smoother, so the fine lines are less visible. The after photos were taken soon after treatment (small injection marks are visible), so some of the fullness may be early swelling that settles.
About lip filler: Dermal fillers are FDA-approved for lip augmentation in adults over the age of 21. Some fillers are absorbed by the body over time, so the treatment may need to be repeated to keep the result. How long it lasts depends on the filler and the area treated.
Recovery and risks: Swelling and bruising are the most common effects, and many settle within a few days to weeks. Less common risks include infection and allergic reaction. The most serious risk is filler entering a blood vessel.
