Physician-Performed
Performed by Sabeen Munib, MD in Irvine.
Details of the Treatment
From the side, thin lips can look flat, with little forward projection. This patient had lip filler to add volume and projection. The photos show her lips in profile, before treatment and after.
The same patient is shown from the front in our front-view lip filler case for thin lips.
Before: the lips sit fairly flat in profile, the upper lip border is soft, and fine vertical lines run above the upper lip and at the corner of the mouth.
How it was done: Sabeen Munib, MD placed the filler with a cannula.
After: both lips are fuller and project further, and the upper lip border reads more clearly. The after photo is brighter and shinier, which also makes skin and lip lines look softer, so judge the lip shape rather than the fine lines.
About lip filler: Dermal fillers are FDA-approved for lip augmentation in adults over the age of 21. Some fillers are absorbed by the body over time, so the treatment may need to be repeated to keep the result. How long it lasts depends on the filler and the area treated.
Recovery and risks: Swelling and bruising are the most common effects, and many settle within a few days to weeks. Less common risks include infection and allergic reaction. The most serious risk is filler entering a blood vessel.
Is lip filler right for you: It depends on your lip shape, the balance between your upper and lower lip, and how much change you want. Sabeen Munib, MD performs every lip filler treatment herself and assesses this at a consultation before any filler is placed.
Individual results vary. The outcome shown reflects this patient's specific anatomy, health history, and treatment plan. Results shown are not guaranteed and are not necessarily typical. Photos used with patient consent.
