Details of the Treatment
This patient came in with overfilled lips and chose to have the filler dissolved with lip filler dissolve. The before photo shows the filler in place; the after photo shows her lips once it was dissolved.
Before: both lips look overfilled and heavy, the lower lip bulges forward, and the upper lip border is blurred.
After: in the after photo, the lips look smaller and softer in shape, the lower lip sits back, and the upper lip border and cupid's bow look clearly defined. The two photos were taken in different light, so judge the shape of the lips rather than their color.
How the filler is dissolved: Sabeen Munib, MD uses hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid, the material in hyaluronic acid filler. Using it to dissolve filler is an off-label use.
Recovery and risks: After hyaluronidase, the most common reactions are mild redness, swelling, itching or pain where it was injected. Allergic reactions are rare, and a past reaction to hyaluronidase is reviewed before treatment.
Is dissolving right for you: It depends on what filler is in your lips now and the shape you want to return to. Sabeen Munib, MD performs every dissolve herself and starts with an assessment, so the plan fits your lips rather than this patient's.
Individual results vary. The outcome shown reflects this patient's specific anatomy, health history, and treatment plan. Results shown are not guaranteed and are not necessarily typical. Photos used with patient consent.
