Nordlys IPL Before & After | Light and Bright Skin in a Mature Patient

Decades of sun damage had concentrated into confluent dark spots across her cheeks and temples. Fully ablative resurfacing was off the table for recovery reasons.

Full face assessment showed widespread solar lentigines and diffuse tone irregularity with preserved skin texture. The skin was Fitzpatrick type II. The pattern reflected long-cumulative photodamage typical of the seventh decade. The plan was Nordlys IPL with pigment-targeting wavelengths.

Nordlys IPL was performed across the full face at pigment-targeting wavelengths. The platform produces selective photothermolysis of pigment targets while sparing surrounding tissue. Recovery is one to two days of mild redness with treated pigment spots darkening before they exfoliate. In the after image, results of this kind are typically observed over several weeks as the skin clears, the lentigines have substantially cleared, the diffuse tone has improved, and the overall skin reads as brighter. IPL has limits — it does not address texture or laxity. For pigment-dominant photoaging, the right device matched to the right complaint produces results that more aggressive treatments do not need to be deployed for.
