Q Switch Nd-Yag Laser

Q Switch Nd-Yag Laser

Target Pigment. Treat Melasma. Safely Rebuild Clarity.

The Q-switched Nd:YAG laser, delivered through the Curas platform, offers precise, non-ablative treatment for pigmentation disorders, tattoos, melasma, and PIH—especially in patients with medium to dark skin tones. This laser delivers ultra-short bursts of high energy that break down pigment particles without damaging surrounding skin, making it the gold standard for melanin-sensitive treatments like laser toning and tattoo removal.

At Spectrum Skin Clinic, we use Curas Q-switched Nd:YAG to treat both epidermal and dermal pigment with advanced protocols tailored to sensitive, post-inflammatory, and hormonally driven pigment issues.

Why Choose Q-Switched Nd:YAG?

  • Safe for skin types I–V, including melanin-rich skin
  • Treats both superficial and deep pigmentation
  • Gentle enough for sensitive skin or active acne
  • No downtime for laser toning treatments
  • Clinically effective in treating melasma and stubborn pigment

How Does It Work?

The Curas Q-switched Nd:YAG emits high-intensity pulses at 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths, targeting different pigment depths. The 1064 nm setting penetrates deep into the dermis—ideal for treating melasma, PIH, and deeper tattoos—while the 532 nm setting is used for superficial pigment and red ink tattoos.

The energy shatters pigment particles into micro-fragments, which the body clears naturally through the lymphatic system. With laser toning, the energy is delivered at lower fluence in rapid bursts to brighten and calm pigmentation without overheating the skin.

What Conditions Can Q-Switched Nd:YAG Treat?

  • Melasma (hormonal pigmentation)
  • PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation)
  • Freckles and sunspots
  • Tattoos (black, blue, red ink)
  • Dull, uneven tone or skin thickening from acne
  • Laser toning for sensitive or acne-prone skin

Treatment Variations We Offer

Laser Toning

Gentle, repetitive low-fluence pulses to fade melasma and even skin tone. No downtime, safe for all skin types.

PIH + Acne Protocols

Targeting post-acne dark marks without aggravating inflamed skin. Often paired with topicals or microneedling.

Tattoo Removal

Custom fluence and spot size for treating tattoos across multiple sessions. We treat black, red, blue, and some green inks.

Who Is This For?

Ideal for men and women aged 18–65+ dealing with:

  • Hormonal pigmentation (e.g., melasma)
  • Acne-induced dark marks
  • Safe treatment needs for skin types IV–V
  • Old or unwanted tattoos
  • Uneven skin tone or thickened skin from chronic acne

What to Expect During the Procedure

The skin is cleansed and prepped. Numbing may be used for tattoo removal or deeper settings. For laser toning, treatment feels like a warm snap or tingling. Sessions last 15–30 minutes depending on area.

Tattoo sessions may be longer and require more intense pulses, depending on color and depth.

Recovery & Downtime

ø Laser toning & pigment treatments: No downtime, mild redness 1–2 hours

ø Tattoo removal: Redness, pinpoint bleeding, mild swelling for 2–5 days

ø Post-care: Avoid sun, heat, and active skincare for 48 hours

ø Makeup: Allowed next day for most facial pigment treatments

When Will I See Results?

  • Laser toning: Brightening and tone improvement in 3–5 days, with optimal results after 4–6 sessions
  • Tattoo removal: Gradual fading over 6–10 sessions, spaced 6–8 weeks apart
  • Melasma/PIH: Progressive fading over 3–5 treatments, maintenance required to prevent recurrence

Combination Protocols Available

To enhance outcomes, we may combine Q-switched Nd:YAG treatments with:

  • Microneedling + PRFM or Rejuran for pigment-prone, textured skin
  • Topical pigment regulators like tranexamic acid or azelaic acid
  • Hydrafacial pre-treatment to remove surface debris and prep the skin
  • Vitamin C or niacinamide protocols for post-procedure support

Who Performs the Procedure?

All Q-switched Nd:YAG procedures are performed by our trained medical providers under the supervision of Dr. Sabeen Munib. Protocols are carefully adjusted by skin type, condition, and pigment depth for safe and lasting results.
